Well my main concern would be the transition time between BT (Jackson) and AIT (Redstone). The reason for my concern would be that my wife and me would be having twins sometime around feb. and my AIT is set for feb 8. I spoke with my recruiter about the situation and would I be permitted to leave on the weekends since it based mon-fri., basically he said he was not sure that I would be able to leave it would depend on my COC and if he permitted it or not. I understand there is no real way to set a date when my wife will actually have the kids I was just wondering if I will be able to leave for the weekend(s) after she has them? Then after the kids were old enough to travel she would visit me as usual. My family is very important to me and my first son turns one July 11th which is one reason my date is so far off to ship but it is very important to me to be there when my kids are first born instead of having to wait till their eight months old when I return around Nov. any info. or suggestions are greatly appreciated!! The start of my career with the army is also impt. so I do not want to delay or miss out on the full experience of any of my training. Just looking for common ground to manage family and work.

I appreciate the info because home for me would be 302 miles from my AIT post. (ha around 252 outside of range) I was trying to get as much info as I can to make sure once I am there I can go the proper route and resolve the situation and do what I have to before I leave. Also, you stated some AIT's do not give weekends off, I hope that is not the case since I have 34wks of AIT. I will be sure to have my paperwork together(I'm guessing ultrasounds and maybe expected DOB form of some kind from the doctor). My MOS is TMDE Sup. Spec. THANK YOU!!
