I lost my sweet son, John C. Wester on December 12, 1985. He completed a tour of duty in the Sini,I spelled that wrong. He and 246 troops, coming home for Christmas. Their plane crashed on takeoff from Gander AFB, NewFoundland, Canada. I will always love you Johnny, and as time goes by, I miss you more and more. I know you are with the angels Johnny.

Parents make so much fuss and worry about deployment, about Iraq, Afghanistan...then something as simple and stupid as a plane crash takes them away. That's a tragedy. A real tragedy. God bless you and your son, ma'am.

He was headed to Fort Campbell, right? There is a beautiful quilt in the museum there dedicated to the soldiers on that plane. Each square has their name. I cried when I first saw it.
