Well guys and gals, the train just left the station. the ball is in motion!
i had my class III today and when the results return, i will hopefully apply to get into the wonderful world of aircrew.
I am a 2A6X4 crosstrainning into anything aircrew. why anything? because 2A afsc's can only xtrain into other 2A or chronic critical. and who the hell wants to be a critically manned cop. HAHA
anyways im new to the website and im looking for info or hints on how to make the x-train process flow smoother. any hints? tips? suggestions?
many Gracias-
Raf

Here is the best piece of advice that anyone on here can give you when it comes to xtraining. Be PATIENT...extremely patient. My xtraining took 8 months to get approved.

I second what eleshue says. Patience is KEY!!! I started my x-training package in April of 06, it took almost 15 months before I got approved. I just graduated BFE at Lackland, and I head out to survival school next month. Good luck to you.

Did you apply for retraining as a First Term Airman (FTA) under CAREERS?

im in the same boat as you! i submitted my package on the 20th of feb. and is in review by my functional right now. i guess they have to review my ETP letter for retrain into FE.

Longroof- what carrer fields u put in for? and what order? mine are: 1X1,1X4,1X0, and 1X2.

i really hope its not our current CFM. they denied my ALC code removal to retrain into these CRITICAL career fields! it drives me crazy too cause my current career field is so easy to fill!! you can be color blind, nearly deaf and be the biggest dirtbag on earth and we take em.

lol. my career field is 4A0X1(health services mgt; you kno when u do somthing wrong u receive a foot of paperwork to file or whatever, thats what i do 24/7). anyway i said that because like half of the ppl in it are washouts/or humanitarian retrains, and the other half is ppl who want to hide away and do the least amount of work and receive military benefits.
then like 5% are ppl who actually enjoy it and perform it well. funny to note we are also overmanned.

well the functional didnt deny my retraining, he denied my request to remove my ALC code. the code is meant to prevent PCS, but i wrote a letter signed by my commander recommending to remove me off the code since im going into a critical career field.(MPF said its normally removed by the local MPF, but somehow this one went up to CFM.) i tried everything.. but that was a while back and now my code expires in 6mo! im eligble to retrain now but cant PCS till then.
also, i have a buddy in my same career field who tried to retrain to FE last year. his ETP waiver letter was disapproved by the functional (not sure if its current career field or not)and retraining aborted. so his package never got sent up to see if he really woulda been accepted.

thats what i fear!!!
