There is a discussion on the board for pictures...one that TheWifey posts stuff on all the time...but I thought we might throw up another one for shots that WE took from our aircraft.

Not airshow shots, or stuff from the web, but stuff we took from either our crew positions, or from personal flying...along with a caption saying where it was, and what you were doing.

I know aircrew folks usually have a hard drive chock full of cool shots from all over the place, so what do you think? Worth posting, or dumb idea?

Bonus points if you can identify this California reservoir, and what major metro area airfield (major area, but minor field) my nose is pointed directly toward in this shot...(hint...it's class D, and I landed on 31R)

Or of our favorite super hero THE GREEN HORNET (this is how my family likes to burn 12-14 gallons/hr)

Damnnnnn......You one ugly dude.

And your bird too...I mean, she has ZERO sense of fashion.

Where's the props? You can't call yourself a respectable airplane these days if you don't take the time to at LEAST put on a few sets of PROPS...you know?

(I'm not Gucci jealous...no...not at all...)

Desert flightsuits at 30,000 feet! LOL. Here is one you will get used to at ABQ Jason. It is the black diamond lowlevel through Taos and Santa Fe.

Here are some little birds we dropped off at a certain LZ for a strike mission. Very cool mission, but I am not sure you guys at Moffet do this yet.

This is the entrance to the low level mountainous portion. I believe it is called the goalpost. It doesn't look as ominous from the side as it does coming right at you.

Yep...when we loaded them the rockets were actually installed. I usually let things slide when they are going in for a hit right after landing, but that was a bit over the top. Didn't even want to picture what a 2.75 would do if fired inside the plane. Especially since that one was pointed right at me.

Don't mess with the stauche, mt...the chicks dig it.

And when they are old enough, maybe their moms will let them come over to play...

...that's a 4 fan GAS can, in my case...kind of like you guys, but packing larger wood (hey...everyone's got their role to play, right?)

And caninedale...although the desert suit DOES look pretty goofy up there in low earth orbit above the ozone layer...it looks even funnier when it is accompanied by an Air Medal. My Loadie buddies from Travis on FRED just made the cut for their Air Medals a while back...from all those 'combat missions' in the Galaxy to Balad (via Spain, Guam, Hickam, Hickam, Hickam, Guam, Hickam...etc.). I jammed him up on that point, and he said "it's kind of embarrassing, actually".

I didn't argue with him.

Ahhh...Songtan...

I'd say it brings back memories, but after all that Soju, if I said I could remember that time, I'd be lying through my teeth.

The headache...I DO remember the headache.

Went to go fly a '46 Navion today at KCCR, but as luck would have it, the bottom plug on the left rear jug was fouled more than the mixture could un-foul...

(it's the ex-father-in-law's plane...and people think I married his daughter for her looks...if only they knew my TRUE motivations) Wink

I suggested a wire brush and a hush-hush...but the old fogey insisted on calling his A&P out...on the clock...to pull a spark plug (must be nice to have more money than sense).

We no fly today.

And yes, caninedale...that would be Mount Diablo in the background.

So far, the Mods have allowed me to post my brother's website on military.com so I thought I would share it again here incase some of you haven't had a chance to see it.

He does this mostly as a hobby as he is employed fulltime with Nike/Bauer.

He goes up with tankers out of Pease, NH ANG wing but has also travelled to MA, ME, NH and out to Nellis AFB in Nevada.

He was contacted by the USMC a while back when they asked permission to use photos from his site for the Marine Corps gunner, A/C identification training. Since his nephew, my son, is a Marine (Cpl, AAV Mech), he was honored for them to do so.

Enjoy... http://topgunphotography.net/

Don

Here's an example...one he took from a tanker of the record setting flight for hours flown in an A-10.

Ahnold, za GovaNator, can't afford to pay his cronies in Sacramento...but the P.D. ins't on the State budget, so they get to screw off...on the clock...

Going to visit my sister in South Lake Tahoe. She is a US Forest Service Firefighter up in the High Sierra, and an AF vet (Security Forces). This field is high, and gets density altitudes over 10K in the hot season...gotta watch your bootie...this field will come up and bite if you don't do your "due diligence".

Mount Shasta (14K+ feet)...flew past this on the way back from a round trip cross country from KLVK to Roseburg, Oregon to pick up a C-140. (we were in a C-170). On the way back, the little 140 almost kicked our butt on a few legs...notably coming from Medford/Ashlan past Yreka. Not sure why, but the little rag-wing 140 picked up it's own tailwind...and even though we were less than 500' separated laterally, we didn't catch this same wind.

Maybe someone had Taco Bell for lunch? (never underestimate the propulsion power of pure methane).

The 62nd AS did an airshow at South Lake Tahoe in the 90s. The pilot did such a great job with the landing he actually blew two main tires.

Were they flying the same decrepid and aged fleet that they have today?

We almost blew a tire on my Initial Qual checkride, doing no flaps. Got the photos on my phone still...peeled a BUNCH of that tire off, and tore up the skin all the way to the SPR panel.

Windy day out of Adams Field (KLIT) in Ar-Can-Saw. Way too much money renting out here...can't wait until Kirtland and the Aero Club. More horses for less $$$ (but still no ragwing, hand-prop taildraggers, so a part of me will always feel empty inside)

photobucket dot com dude. Gives you links and everything. You then post the links in the body of the forum message...using the [IMG] link.

That's how 99% of us do it. There should be a sticky posting at the top of one of the forum main headers...probably "General Discussion".

If not, and if you can't figure it out, PM me from the profile page and I'll hook you up...as soon as I land, debrief, strip out of the stanky flightsuit, pour a stiff one, and sit down butt azz naked at the computer at 3am.

(didn't need the visual...didja?)

Yesterday...(TGIF?)

Entering the Low Level called "The Black Diamond".

I am almost finished with my day flights here, and I didn't think I'd get a chance to do this run during the day (I assume it isn't quite as spectacular on NVG's), but I lucked out and got to FE a fini-flight for a pilot who wanted to do this run. We broke, almost scrubbed the rest of the day, but once Mx said we were good, we went back for round 2, and plugged the route.

Fun afternoon.

The Goal Post...the best part of the route. Wish the pics were better, but the load was behind my head shooting with a crappy iPhone camera (better than nothing, eh?...everybody say "Thank you Ryan")

Headed home past Sandia Crest into Albuquerque/Kirtland

Told you the Black Diamond was bad ass. Did your body get used to the day flying at ABQ yet? That low level can be very rough. Who was the pilot on the fini flight?

Maj Anderson.

As long as i don't have to go heads down too much and get in my TOLD while we are putting G's on abruptly, I'm OK.

That, and this time, my instructor wasn't blowing his own barf breath in my face...that was a positive

Looks like we get to do it again...wish me luck and hope I get to Leadville tomorrow.

I'll try to take better pictures of Black Diamond if I'm not overly busy making mistakes and getting yelled at by the IF.

Nice to see the 60's finally showed up on track! Gun When I was stationed at Kirtland they were notorious for showing up 2-3 minutes late.

According to the number of Howdy's on the flight deck today, King folks ALL pass some serious gas.

Apparently I was reacting to the wrong threats...
