just wondering if any body knows whether or not AFPC takes into consideration if an individual wanting to crosstrain into and aircrew job, has already had training such as Combat survival, water survival, altitude chamber training and all that good stuff, and sees that as an advantage to picking that person up? cause thats the boat i'm in. thanks in adavnce

Probably not. The initial training you'll need is far more expensive than the ancillary training required. It all boils down to career field numbers and pre-qualifications. I'd still encourage you to apply for retraining if that's what you want. There are no penalty points for being denied.

thanx for the response, but regardless of how they looked at it, my initial retraining requst got approved two days ago for FE. so i'm stoked as hell about that. just gotta get all my stuff together and send it in. any guess on how long it takes once all that is sent that they give you the thumbs or or the boot?

Well, I submitted back in March 2007 and I received final approval around July last year. But, I started the whole process in early Feb, it took a while to get all the ducks lined up and for my command to hack off on the Flight Physical. Here I am almost a year later and I'm finally about to make my first flight at FTU (on the KC-10).

So, you already have the initial survival training and the chamber done? What's the date on the chamber, the dates are good for 5 years. I'm not sure about the survival though, although it would be nice not to have to attend again huh?

Depends on the age of certification. If it's recent, they may not require recertification. You'll have to show them your completion certificates and let them decide.

chamber stuff i got done in Nov. 2005 and survival was back in August. i've already got my class III, got it back in basic. so i don't know, i'll have to just wait and see. another question for the masses... if you send the application in through vMPF, not faxed, what kind of squadron routing process is required?
