Hello everyone,

I just received a waiver for my eye sight to go to Pilot Training. I will have to wear glasses or possibly get enhancement surgery to see 20/20 or better (I see 20/25 now, but it is correctable to 20/20). I really want to fly helos for CSAR and at this point nothing else. Will having glasses put me at a disadvantage or prevent me from getting into CSAR? Thanks for your help in advanced.

Glasses won't be the thing that keeps you out of helos. It will likely be the fact that every UPT class doesn't have helos in the aircraft drop on assignment selection.

Find a Guard or Reserve CSAR unit...guaranteed a Pave Hawk.

+1 on that idea. Your chances on active duty would be very slim. The active helo community is still balancing itself from the huge influx of MH-53 pilots who needed jobs when that airframe was retired. There is also an outside chance of a UH-1 at a space command base, but that isn't CSAR.

If there are no UPT slots than how am I getting new pilots in my squadron on a pretty regular basis?
