I am not sure what i want to do in the AF yet. Is the 1A field pretty interesting? While flying, is there a lot of down time or is it always pretty exciting?

Lots of down time. Worth it as you will get extra money just for being on flight status and staying current.

I'm not a flyer (yet) but from what I hear it all depends on the airframe/mission.

1AXXX is well worth the hassle required to get there. It is my 5th job title in the Military, to date, and by far the most enjoyable. BUT, it was a rather large pain in the arse to get to this point, so if you go the Career Enlisted Aviator route, make darned sure it's what you REALLY want to do, and then stick it out allt he way through, no matter what.

If you just have a passing interest, you either won't make it through the schools, OR you will end up a disgruntled 1AXXX.

We have enough disgruntled 1AXXX's to go around already. Not really looking to pick up any more.
