Just a quick question for anyone that might have any knowledge in this sort of thing.
Im waiting to enlist in the ANG and recruiter told me that I have to find out with Load master sdrn as to when I could leave for BMT. So my question is: Would it be possible to leave asap or would is there a set yearly schedule I'd have to wait to leave. (obviously, I don't know what to expect)Or is it a situation where they send you off to BMT immediately and then you could wait until tech school starts...He said Tech schools for fliers are different then everybody else. Any help would be appeciated!

I'm active duty, but knowing a few folks I went through training with in the Guard and Reserves I might be able to help a little. As far as I know, it all depends on how many students are trying to go through the schools at that time, etc. There are no set yearly dates. My friends in the Guard both went to basic and then went home for a period of a few weeks or sometimes a month or two in between their schools, since loadmasters (all fliers really, as your recruiter said) have many different schools to attend. Basically, you'll just have to play it all by ear! Expect at LEAST a year to complete all of your schools, maybe more depending on number of students and what airframe you're on. Hope this helps!
