There are two methods to achieving financial independence: 1) cut your spending or 2) increase your income. The first option includes budgeting, utilizing coupons, and taking advantage of bargains at stores. The second option includes higher education, part-time jobs, investment opportunities, and entrepreneurship. The average American earns an average of $50K a year and less than 2% of the population retire wealthy. Have you ever asked yourself why? Unfortunately, in our society, wealth management and talent development courses are not offered at traditional institutions. You must train yourself by trail and error or by taking courses after you have become indebted by thousands of dollars. Sound familiar? There is a better way. Let's start with 3 steps to success: 1) Know what you want 2) Know how to get it 3) Know when to change your approach. If you take a look at successful people from around the world, these 3 steps is what they all have in common. Sound simple? It is simple, but you must first master two things - your internal communication within yourself and then your external communication with others. In other words, the fastest way to achieving financial independence is to develop your skills so that you can properly manage your finances and generate the income that you deserve.

I hope this information helps you take the first step towards your financial independence.

Best wishes,

Raul

There is no great secret to financial independence and future security. You do not need to pay someone a lot of money to learn the secrets.

Like all of you I spent many years spending too much of the money I earned. For a number of years I earned a lot and spent it as fast or faster than I earned it. Hey I was an E-4. Not great money. I got a degree and made about 3 times that - still not much.

Over the years I never saved and it was a problem. No I do - I make careful decision on what do I really need to buy. Not what I can afford - I can afford it. Do I really need something, or should I save the money.

Do I really need the $100 dinner, or will a $35 dinner do just as well. A good steak is a good steak.

You will be surprised when you stop spending and start saving on home much you can put away each month. If you have debt, pay it. Spend as little as possible until you have paid it off.

I am not against financing a car - but do you need to spend $35,000 on a car on an enlisted salary.

Some will say that owning a house is always better than renting. But if you are in the service and will move every 3 years, do you really want to own property in several states, and be trying to sell all the time. There is a cost to buying and selling - real estate commissions can add up. You can right off the taxes and interest, but at your tax rate, does that really mean that much. How much of your payment goes to interest - 98% in the early years. With the market flat, you are not going to gain much over the 3 years.

I am rambling, but just trying to help.
