Hello,

So I am in the process of testing to get into the Coast Guard. I am told I can not have anything in collections when they run my credit. Now if something was in collections and I am now making payments on that account is it still in a "bad" standing to where I will not be qualified?

Thank you.
Brittney

Opps, I'm on a 96 and going to go fishing in the north woods...I hate Lake Erie, it has too many dead fish in it.

You need to pay off the debts, and sometimes it can take up to 6 months for it to show on your credit report. I would try calling the credit reporting agencies to see what they can do.

Pay them off. After they have received the final payment get them to fax or mail you a letter confirming a zero balance. Wait about 45 days and then check your credit report to make sure it has been updated correctly.
