Do you know what is more important? I did it in excel and find out that this is the best way to do it. What I mean – to understand where you are in financial terms, to maintain your budget, to improve your financial IQ. I know a lot of good engines, such us Quicken, MS, Acedo, Aimiya Software etc. What do you use every day?

Ashtrom,

The answer really depends upon what you are looking to accomplish. For me personally, I use quicken because it is very useful with respect to checking accounts and other assets and liabilities such as a home, car. I find Quicken less useful for the 401K and other investment due to the less than ideal cost basis systems that is used.

As a result, I use a combination of word and excel each quarter to determine the cash flow impact of my investments, fee cost, cost basis of additional investments, and annually CAGR.
