I didnt think that ship was still around then.
I was on her when she was in the Brooklyn navy yards. That was in 1980, I dont know if you heard stories about having to go under the Brooklyn bridge. The mast was too tall so before we got under way they had to trim down the mast put it on a truck ,and meet us at a pier on the other side of the bridge and weld it back on so we could go out for sea trials.
