Okay, so. I dragged Bobby to the gym this morning.
I did a shorter version because he was done before me. I walked for 15 minutes, then hit the Devil for 20.....I ended up extending it for another 3 minutes because it was to end in the middle of my song. Oh,and I did my abs. That's it, I'm done.....gotta go shower and get ready to hit the road for a few hours. |

I've pushed myself hard this week....I'm so tired and my joints ache. I think I'll take tomorrow off, and soak in the tub here shortly.

Hi! I have been reading up on a lot of stuff lately about weight and diabetes and just generally not feeling well. I found a site at NO links to private website My husband is a military vet and is over weight, has high blood pressure, and diabetes. More often here lately he just doesn't even seem to want to get out of bed. I ordered him vitamins from this site about a month ago and it has seemed to really help. Now I am not saying you have to order from here, but having the right vitamins has really seemed to help him. He now asked me every day where are my vitamins and he is getting up and walking around more. His sugar lvels are getting much better as well. I know that's because he's moving more. He also has had a couple of back surgeries and he is not complaining as much about his pain all the time any more. A good diet the right exercise and having some vitamins instead of a bunch of other chemicals in your body really seems the way to go. Hope this helps someone as much as it helped me.

Diabetes is a whole nother story - I know, my mother has had it all my life and longer. It's important to get exercising sooner than later with it. Weight can be harder to lose and with other complications that can come along with diabetes, it can make it difficult to exercise. However, a good walk each morning or evening or both can really help. Go for an hour walk each day and the weight will start to come off. It will also help with circulation in the legs, etc. Eating smaller meals more times a day is important to help keep blood sugar levels naturally level as well.

I think my enthusiasm got the best of me Saturday...lol....my calves are still sore. Question is--do I take another day off to rest or jump back on the horse?? lol...my body says 'sit down' but my brain says 'put your clothes on and GO!'

I'm going to squadron pt today, but that doesn't mean zilch since I'm on profile. I might walk 1 1/2 miles, but that's about it. I wish I could go to the gym during that time, rather than waste an hour. Maybe I'll be able to go after work? Though I hate the thought of driving all the way home just to come back to base to work out.

ash, I go to squadron pt because I'm in the military too! Lol. We're in the same squadron. But we have one guy who must have his kid in only half day CDC or something. She's about nine, and he brings her to pt. She does it too - she ran 3 miles the other day!
So, I'm totally going to the gym today! I'm excited. I can't wait to be sore again, lol. |

I don't do well with out a work out buddy either. I am very lucky to have found the trainer I have found. However, the comptitive streak in me is what got me going - reading this thread in the beginning was motivation enough for me to go to the gym.
On that note: Did dalmost 40 mins on the treadmill then did a work out with the DS trainer again today. I walked to the store the last couple of days. Will be walking down to the store again today too. That's almost another mile in of walking - there and back. |

I haven't done anything since Saturday....JRP: what's good for a hamstring that's acting suspicious? Like it's about to cramp up on me, but then doesn't....just feels like it. --and it didn't start until yesterday, last day at the gym was Saturday.....odd huh?
I've been cleaning like a weirdo the past 2 days---and eating light! lol....I think I can skate by til tomorrow--hamstring pending. |

I am going to the gym today--some of you may have seen that i threw down a guantlet on the confessions thread--anyone interested in joining me in my pact may do so!
My commitment is to running on the treadmill three times a week, at least. I run for about 30 min, go about 2.5 miles at a pace that progresses from 3.5 mph to 4.7 mph--which is from a walk to a jog. Each time I try to challenge myself to go 1/10th of a mph faster--i am working up to an intitial goal of 5 mph for at least ten minutes. I am not a runner by any means, but I want to become one! DF helps me--I love running next to him at the gym! |

BAW:
Best thing for a hammy is to rest it. I don't really know what's going on with it since I can't put my hands on it and feel it, but I am guessing you may have strained it by pushing a little too hard on the devil machine or something. Or you could have done it on the stairs with doing laundry or bending over or something. I would be icing it. Icing it will help reduce any inflamation. Heat might feel good and help the muscle to relax, but if there is any inflamation you want to use ice. If heat makes it feel better, follow with ice adn alternate heat and ice. That is always good therapy. Think of the science experiment of putting a milk jug full of HOT water in the fridge and letting it cool. It sucks it in. Does the same thing to inflamation. Do not stretch it unti it is feeling better. If you have a slight pull in there, it could cause more damange and make the pull worse. Compression bandage such as an ace bandage can help to give it some support and keep circulation going. When you do start stretching, make sure you do it when the muscle is warmed up. Such as after a walk/work out or even after a hot bath, and EASE in to the stretch. You can do this and see if it pulls any. If it feels like it's going to cramp up, stop. If it causes pain, stop. It should not be painful. |

Sweet! Thanks hon. I've never injured my hammy before so I wasn't sure what I should be doing to it--besides resting it for a few days. Even as a runner back in the day, I've never been injured....worst I've ever had was incredibly sore muscles after trying to best my time or doing a cross-country race.-to the point where I actually needed help getting off the toilet...lol! 'Course the gals helping me ended up needing the same assistance from me when it was their turn...
I'll chill it a bit--brrrrr.....could feel really good if I sit outside in the 90 degree heat though. |

Victory! I went to the gym and worked out for a whole hour! My legs feel like limp noodles, but that's a great feeling!
Ok, so I'm just checking to see if I'm crazy or not. Does anyone else come home from the gym, check themselves out in the mirror, and convince themselves that they can already see improvement? Lol, I do this every time I come home from the gym! I did my legs today, and I swear my thighs look better. I think I'm just crazy... |
