Hi Everyone. I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. I have extremely dry and sensitive skin as well as Rosacea. My skin gets so dry that I often describe it looking as though my face has dandruff! Frown My PCM on base has given me Carmol 20 lotion to use as a moisturizer but it doesn't seem to be helping. He's also prescribed a cream called Noritate 1% for the Rosacea (they tried MetroGel previously but it irritated my skin). I'm not seeing any improvements.

Right now I'm using only sensitive skin products such as St. Ives and Clean & Clear cream-based gentle scrubs and Clean & Clear facial cleanser that is gel-based. I also use Ponds Dry Skin moisturizer since that's really intense and doesn't irritate my skin.

During a recent visit he recommended a cleanser called "Purpose". I've been having trouble finding this but I did find it online. It's from Johnson & Johnson and they also make a "Redness Reducing Moisturizer with SPF 30". During my search I've also come across products from Eucerin called "Redness Relief" and they too have a moisturizer called "Redness Relief Daily Perfecting Lotion with SPF 15" which says it is is "appropriate for Rosacea".

I'm kinda leaning towards the Eucerin Redness Relief products but wanted to know if any of you have tried either of these and could offer your opinions and advice. Both are expensive costing about $15-20! (Purpose lotion is 2.75 oz and Eucerin is 1.7 oz). With it costing so much I'd like to make a wise well-informed decision. Have any of you tried this or know someone who has? Have you had/seen any results? Any info you can share is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Smile

Once and a while I have eczema patches on my face. I use Aveeno Ultra-Calming Moisturizing Cream and it does not irritate my skin.

My skin gets red and blotchy sometimes. This may sound silly, but I occasionally will do oatmeal masks. I use the plain old long cooking oatmeal. Put a little bit in a bowl. Add enough hot water to make it pasty. Put on your face and let it dry then rinse off with cool water. It is very soothing and helps the face feel softer.

I have tried some of the more expensive products but they really didn't do much.

Thank you both for the replies. My face has been breaking out in a rash quite frequently now and I don't know why. I've been using the same products to wash and treat my skin for a long time, so I don't know what's going on.
My PCM seems reluctant to refer me to a dermatologist though since every time I ask about these issues on my face he just tells me to cut back on how often I'm using the Noritate cream. I haven't used it in about a week and my rashes are everywhere! This is why I'm doing so much research to see if there's anything I can do on my own to help the problem. Thanks so much!

Munchichic, I would definately insist that your PCM refer you to a derm. PCM's are too laid back about referring out. You have every right to request a consult as your skin is not getting any better.
