... is only 20 days away.

I'll be running in it for the first time this year, and I'm really excited.

They say it's the largest organized 10-mile race in the world... Has anyone here ever done it? I know D.C. is pretty flat for the most part, but any advice regarding hills or other things to look out for is always welcomed.

I'm hoping to meet (or break) 1 hour, 5 minutes. Big Grin

"I would personally like to swarp her upside the head with the whole spice rack! Maybe then and only then will she ever be "seasoned" enough!"

My husband ran it a couple of years ago. You can go to the website and get more info on the terrain...although it's pretty much flat from what I remember him saying.

Good luck on your goal time. The biggest challenge that you're going to have with that is the fact that you'll be running with 26,000 other runners. That kind of messes with trying to set a good pace.

By the way...keep a smile on your face! They're constantly snapping pictures along the course that you'll be able to order after it's over. Have fun!!

Nobody said Life would be easy. They just promised it would be worth it.

Late joiner here.

What about 2009?

I would love to go. How did you manage parking? I would stay at the Motel 8 by Andrews Air Force Base. Is there public transportation avail?

I don't know where the race starts but the Metro is a great way to get around the District. It gets you all over the place and gets rid of your need to take a car in. I would suggest checking to see if there is a Metro station near where the race starts.

Hello Mod

Thank you for getting right back to me. A small group of us from the Hot Topics & Current Events threads/ General Discussions, met last year at the Vietnam War Memorial. I remember seeing the metro there, but being a guy I insisted on getting lost in traffic instead.

I'll Google the race again. I remember it brought the runners past the Pentagon and other important sites.
