I told him he's screwed, but he's telling me he's not. He said he doesnt get a security clearance and they didnt find it at meps when they did the National check because it was handled at a very small municipal court and they dont search that low. Is/Can he get in trouble/ will he be founded out?!

Well he is stupid enough to tell people about it. (you and who knows how many others) so it's my guess that
1. He will be found out because he brags about beating the system 2. He will eventually need a clearance and be found out. 3. Thinks he can get away with it and end up smoking again and come up hot on a urine test. I'm sure the are countless other scenarios that could be played out. My .02 cent |

My money is on #3. However, even if the kid is genuinely serious about getting his life on track and does a great job, #2 will likely bite him in the behind. Always best to be honest up front. |

Yup. This is the #1 method the Army uses to bust people. Their own big mouth. Eventually someone he told will mention it to a NCO or the NCO will be in earshot of the barracks rumor when it spreads. The NCO will pull him aside and ask questions, already with the knowledge of what the answer should be given the rumor. If he lies then, he gets UCMJ for the lying on top. Double whammy. When I went through Sand Hill at Ft. Benning they had a two way intercom in the Barracks Bay. You would hear it click on during the one hour personal time each night because that is when the big mouths started to sing. You would not believe how many they busted that way. Stay tuned in OSUT and watch the show!!! It's pretty entertaining at times. One of my first roomies at 2nd AD in the 1980's drank heavily......blurted out one day amongst us new privates that he was convicted of two DUI's in Phoenix before enlistment and openly bragged "they don't catch everything". He was chaptered out before he made PFC. Yes, I was one that passed on that little nugget of info because his drinking was a serious problem. Would I have mentioned it if he had straightened up and did his job.....probably not. |
