In the Company of Soldiers. Don't remember who wrote it off the top of my head. It's an account of division level leadership with the 101st during the Invasion of Iraq.
"To Hell and Back" by Audie Murphy; a wonderful read that explains the life of an Infantryman in war better than a hollywood production could ever hope to.
Ahh I have some good ones, they are in storage and haven't read them in years. 2 were Vietnam, very emotional btw. I had 1 or 2 good ones from WWII, and one that I can name off the top of my head that wasn't necessarily infantry or Army. Was "Chesty Puller" USMC Retired LT.Col I believe that was his ending rank. But a very motivating, inspiring story of a great military leader. I would suggest it to anyone and actually lent it to my buddy when he was in South Korea, he like it too.
"The Jungle is Neutral" by F. Spencer Chapman it is not about American Infantry however the book is considered to be a primer by many on jungle warfare. He was a British officer who fought a guerrilla war against the Japanese when they occupied Malaya during WWII and lived in the jungle for most of the war.
I have a list of some that are in my librairy and some I would like to have.
I got a bunch off the shelfs the other day to put them on the list. Haven't had time or motivation yet.
I have a Hell of a lot more. Most are on strategy and politics of conflicts.
I have two duffle bags full stored somewhere I need to bring out.
In the Army BC and video games, we had time to read.
