I leave for OSUT on November 17th and just had a quick question about PT improvements once at OSUT.

I am hoping to earn an airborne slot after OSUT. I am 6'6 and 218 pounds and have been an athlete my whole life. I can knock out 60 push ups, 85 sit-ups and run 2 miles in 14 as of now. I am just curious to know if my scores will improve during basic?? I need to max out my PT test to prove to myself I belong with the elite infantrymen in the Army. Push- ups suck for me because my arms are so damn long. Thanks for any info friends.

Yea they will improve like crazy, getting smoked all the time...my DS told me on day 1 that my arms would be fatter than my head by the time I leave..lol

You don't have anything to worry about you will get more in shape...athlete or not, they still smoke the mess out of you...

What is going to happen is, you are going to take Christmas Exodus, go home, eat a lot of junk, drink beer, sleep alot, not run and report back fat and lazy.

Unless you are motivated.

your push ups and sit up will improve just because youre in basic.

your run time.... they made us run longer than 2 miles until the very last pt test... and then everyone ran a full minute faster than "usual". My advice to you is to practice doing wide arm and close arm push ups as those exercises work different muscles.

I concur.
You will improve, but only as much as you push yourself to. You can leave there as smart/stupid and strong/weak as you want. It's on you.
