Should there be a special Infantry pay for us? much like flight pay, sea pay, airborne pay. and should we get more "combat pay" than the rest of the soldiers in a war zone?

Good question. I say no, except in the instances of SD-1, 2 OR 3.
but that is dependent upon being assigned to a certain unit.
just to stir the pot some more on this question. Is it "fair" for the guy who never leaves the FOB to draw the same pay that a guy who is outside the wire 95% of his deployment draws?
I'd say no to special Infantry pay because it would create an incredible amount of animosity. The bonuses are where the incentives come from. All though, Infantrymen take a lot more punishment over a four year hitch or career than most soldiers.
The combat pay thing suffers from the same problem, it would create too much resentment.

Id say yes it is fair. Why? Because the guy on the FOB is probably working 12 on 12 off every single day for 15 months without a down day. The guy going outside the wire might patrol for 6 hours and come back in the FOB and be at the internet cafe for the rest of the day. Im not saying any one job is better than the other but I am saying that things even out for hte most part. On the other hand I know that there are some people who never leave the FOB and barely do any work at all who get the same pay.
On the special Infantry pay I say yes. Just because I'm a special little snow flake and I deserve mroe money.

The way I feel about it I would say yes. We had the same issue while serive as a military firefighter. The Air Force got hazzard duty pay, what did us in the US Army get? Nada! NO extra pay at all. I guess fires in the Air Force are hotter. Whats funny is I aksed CSM Gates, he was the Army CSM at the time. He came to Campbell to tell us their was going to be a reclass comming down for most all Army active duty firefighters. I asked him why did the Air Force get the extra pay for doing the same job we did, and alls he could tell me was it's pretty screwed up aint it.
At least in terms of clothing allowance for Christ sake. I always thought it was BS to be in the Infantry, destroying and ripping BDU's on a regular basis, and getting the same clothing allowance as folks in non-dirty MOS's. Especially since the allowance was not even enough to buy one complete set w/boots. Even more annoying is when the it got decided we needed to buy additional non-clothing items that the chain of command thinks we need and justify it because after all, "You get a clothing allowance don't you?" The Army doesn't (At least then) give you everything you need, you have to buy it. If I didn't buy gear on my own, I would have frozen to death several times over. By the way, the stuff from CIF was junk and looked like Korean era surplus items.

In regard to this, i think with the advent of ADO during deployment, people are getting more uniforms FOR FREE than they know what to do with.
I have a tuff box full of ACU's I have yet to wear, and I know I will order more when I go back to the sandbox.

may have been back in the day. I've not heard such a thing recently, though.
Absolutely yes. I say that there should be a sort of a-la-carte pay structure. Example, on top of your base pay, add $150 for anyone serving as an 11B in an Infantry squad in an 11B unit; add another $150 for serving in an Airborne Infantry unit performing the same Infantry duties; add another $150 for Rangers serving in a Ranger unit as a Ranger; add another $150 for Sp. Op’s and Delta provided you serve in those units and serving in the trained capacity.
This pay structure would create a great incentive to retain and attract significant numbers of qualified troops. These are just my thoughts.

and thats the reason it will never happen... it just makes sense.
