We (SBCT6 - the 56th SBCT 28ID PA ARNG) are MOBing in SEP/OCT. Obviously when we RIP the outgoing SBCT we'll get schooled up on specific TTPs and what not, but we are looking to prepare as much as possible in advance. With that in mind I'm looking for any tidbits of info, advice, suggestions etc. you're willing to share now that may be of use to us at this stage of our preparations. For now, I'm in the 3 shop and have a good relationship with the BC and the 3 where I can influence some of our training and preparations.
Cordon and search, and vehicle pursuit. Those are HUGE. Also, our Stryker BDE was successful because unlike our predecessors we did not concentrate on how many insurgents we captured or killed, we concentrated on severing the heads of the insurgency. Take out the leaders and the nugs will fall like dominos.
I should also say I'm looking for "troop level" advice - not necessarily "Oh" level - but things line NCO's and privates can use to live another day. I GTG on "old school" 11B knowledge from my old days - and on nuts and bolts "gunfighter" issues from my current SWAT life - but need help on the here-and-now issues facing 11B, particularly Stryker 11B's, in Iraq.
runfuret I know you have plenty for me so start singing.
I should add my AKO in the event you are willing to include tips you don't want here on the public domain.
true the new(er) version of 7-8 for styker fm 3.21-8. I also have fm and tms and digits for everything styker related from fireteams, up to plts and companys, as well as the styker recon unit. Also just a though... make sure everyone knows everyones job, and desginate alts for the driver and tc, since the regualr driver and tc will go vacation, injurid, etc
groundpounder - appreciate it but I'm looking for the input from BTDT's that we won't find in the FM. Tips we can prepare for during MOB training before we RIP.
