Family day was the day of Turning Blue, the day before graduation. We had an 8-hour pass that day. The 36-hour pass was after the first 9 weeks of OSUT, at the break from "Basic" and "AIT" portions. That was six years ago at Benning.

That sounds more realistic. I'm serving 7 weeks in total so I'm trying to gauge my grad date. Looks to be Dec 10th, a Thursday (naturally)

Do not make plans or bank on what your orders say. All prior service infantry orders say the same thing . However, I have talked to people that have been inserted into OSUT as early as week 4. I am not talking about slackers either, guys that claim to be physically fit. So, in this case, from what I am told, our orders are just a guideline. Our 7 weeks may quickly turn into 14. It makes sense if you think about it. They want us more prepared to fight because, a unit you ship to may be preparing to deploy. Since we will not have a bunch of time to train with our new unit, we will need as much OSUT training as possible. |
