Yeoman Community,

I hit 6 years in on 10FEB2010, my EOE is 09AUG2010 (thanks to an extension), my Rotate Date off the CHASE is 01JUL2010, I have about 85 days of leave on the books.

Request to know:

1. May I submit for tempsep prior to my 6 year mark (10FEB2010) requesting a separation date during the summer of 2010?

2. If requesting TempSep, am I allowed to burn leave as terminal leave?

3. Can you apply for TempSep anytime after you are past your 6 year mark, or do you apply AFTER you hit your 6 year mark AND in preparation to the end of your Obligated time?

v/r,
koko p.

I would be sure to get it in BEFORE a point were orders were issued. The possible trip point there is having orders in hand and then requesting a TEMPSEP. At a minimum it may look like you were doing it as a way to get out of orders. The worst that can happen if you submit early is that they can say 'resubmit after XX XXX XX." At least it is on file then. Please don't forget to strongly consider reserve service while on tempsep.

Roger that Master Chief. That is why I am inquiring early so that I can have all the information I need to make the right decision.

I have every intentions of affiliating with the reserves if and when my request comes to fruition and eventual approval, only if the powers that be find it fit for approval.

It is an option, as I am having a hard time getting my footing as a parent, a Coastie, and an Army officers' wife, especially being on my 2nd 378. 2 and a half years into it, and I'm still struggling, so without getting out of the CG permanently, I need the time to re-group and re-prioritize after I am tour complete on the CHASE.
