I have a question.

My parents are my dependents. They live in a different town than I. Is there any paperwork that I need to do prior to them going to the nearest base to get their ID's renewed?

Thanks in advance

If you can prove that what you say is true..and your parents depend on you..then you should,nt have a problem.

I went though a similar situtation once.i wanted to put my mom on my depends list..but in order to do that ..she could,nt be collecting ss or my dads blacklung (he was a former coalminer) so that was,nt happening ..she was always complaining about the price of medicine..i wish i could help..but she actually made to much for me to claim her..

Hello Spacecowboy,

I am not sure who you are or what you are referring to but your response has nothing to do with my question. I do not post questions here for DRAMA as it seems that is what you are looking for. A retired e-6 (thats what your bio says)Smile? Thanks for your service, I appreciate it. Happy Veterans day!

If I get this correct I guess your asking if your Parents can go and get a new ID without you?? Well yes they can as long as you get them a DD-1172 and you sign it prior to their ID card appointment, If not you will have to be there with them.

Hope this helps!

Cook, as long as your parents are already approved by PSC (Topeka) and they are listed on your dependency data form (which you should have or will be verifying this month), then YN3Chicago is correct, have your YN fill out a DD-1172 (ID Card application) and you verify it by signing in block 90, and then the YNs will sign it in block 99. Once you have those two signatures, your parents may take that form and another form of ID (picture preferably), to the nearest ID Card facility (which you can find using the following link: http://www.dmdc.osd.mil/rsl/owa/home). They have 90 days from the time the YNs sign the form to get their IDs. If they don't, the form will not be honored at the facility and you will have to send them another one, with a current date on it.
