Admin and Support Divisions S^%cks. I’m tired of the pat answer of “it’s the members responsibility” when you ask a Yn1 or a Sk1 for help.
I have to complete all my scheduled travel, TDY orders, travel claims, DLA, proceed, BAH, COLA, part tracking, document # .GBL , brown sheet, …and if I have a question they look at me like a dog that farted and say “I don’t know , it’s your responsibility” I’m tired of waiting 45 days to get a part that is in our storeroom and getting charged twice because the SK1 has no clue how to do a turn in and then insist that I have to spend $$ before the EOFY just because they never managed the CMplus till the end of the FY. How come I can order, ship and track my parts as an FT better than the SK’s??... Maybe because I show up for work at least once a week. How come I have to tell a YN1 with 16 yrs in how to do a retirement package and inform them on a 4700 “what’s that I’ve never heard of that” Members responsibility….load your own F#$ng rounds and shut the hell up. |

Chief, I would delete this post....pronto. Not the place for this kind matter. Your compliant maybe valid. And really I am trying to be a teammate and help you out. We all get steamed from time to time and say stuff we should not of. but this kind of thing helps no one.

TDY Travel claims/orders are the members responsibility. If you have a question, your AO for TPAX is their to assist you. Don't take assist as the one who fills out your TDY authorization and claim. He/she is not the one traveling. You are. As for the other stuff, BAH, DLA, COLA. Don't know what the problem is. If you're retiring, you get no DLA or proceed time. I believe you are only authorized MALT. The PCS Entitlements Worksheet should be able to assist you. Also, I believe it is stated in the 3PM that it is the members responsibility to submit the CG PSC-4700 to the SPO at least 60 days prior to terminal/retirement. "SPO/unit YN will assist, but ultimate responsibility lies with the member." No two YN's work the same. I know I don't. |

MAD E7 45 (I say E-7 becuase that was not the post of a Chief)
What the hell is an FT? If you don't even know you changed rating 5 years ago, you got more problems than what you posted. |

I gotta agree... That is no CHIEF post. If this indicative of how you go about your day to day business, there is little mystery as the status of your current state of mind.

Mighty and 249... These comments are also unproductive, and I think will only succeed in pissing him off further. Just as his comments pissed you off. I do not get how you can critizie him for bad leadership, in response to him being critical. You did the exact samething he did! None of this is mentoring, developing subordinates, or leadership. |

As you claim to be a YN, seems to me you should know, yes? |

Unlike some of us, I'm not at work when making a response. I have better things to do. Like work. Don't have all the information in front of me. |

Dog; 1) I wasn't pissed off. Humored actually, not POd 2) Feel free to use your experience to determine what is mentoring, leadership and developing subordinates for you. I am not from the codling generation and do not use 'helicopter parent' style of developing/mentoring. When someone steps out of line, I will pull them back in in a way I feel is appropriate. |

Madchief45- Your comments are inappropriate and highly unprofessional. Not being a SK or YN, I still took offense to your post. I am not sure what you hoped to accomplish with your post. Attacking two entire rates because you have issues with personnel at your unit not only displayed your lack of leadership skills but your lack of understanding of our core values.

As a retired YN (May 1999 - before TPax), I would have to say to the Chief, that if you feel you have not received the service that you think you should have received, then go up the YN's chain of command to further clarify everything. If you need help filling out the forms, the YN's should help you with that.

The originator of this thread is not a Chief. Likely, it's someone who is venting off here and using an alias. Notice how the moron started this post and now enjoys reading the replies. Hope he or she can read my mind!

This is funny. I love when a CPO/XPO/OIC/CO or anyone makes these comments either in person or on an e-mail. Being a YN, I always forward them the manual insert of where it states "Members Responsibility". The 4700 states the member will forward the documents to PSC, not drop it off at his YN for them to mail out, we are there as advisers and tech reps for the commands, we can hold your hand and assist but we are not there to handle all of your business, I honestly would not want any YN handling my Retirement Package, Allotments, Direct Deposit, Tax Info or anything else for the matter, the more I have control over the better.
Tpax as an AO, I can enforce a lot more hardships on my members, I choose not to and try and be as customer service oriented as possible. However there are times when you do need to yank the chain and bring them down to regs. I have informed a Sr Officer it is a violation to share passwords and user log in with me when they wanted a Travel Claim entered in for them (Proxy is not intended for being Lazy). I was 100% willing and did give them training. I find it more and more that once you move up in rank get a CO/XO job they cannot take 10 min's of time to fill out a Travel Claim. How many CO's XO's out there that have Command Sec's that enter in their Travel Claims for them and have access to their Log in and Password? I use to for my CO on the ship, until I had a issue with a Travel claim and got my hieney(SP) handed to me by the CPO at PSC, who followed up informing the CO it was a big NO,NO. My Rambling is off now. |

I enter my own Travel Claims thank you.
The issue most people have with TPAX is it is not user friendy and if you only travel once in a while it can be a difficult program to use. Senior Officer/ XO sends. |

What the heck, I'll put you on the spot CDR. Who enters your boss's travel claims? |

I know at my unit the members kind of expect us YNs to do their travel claims. I dont mind helping out with the new guys since most of them have never traveled before but the members that have been here for a year or two now should know how to do a travel claim. I think its pretty much a case of them just being lazy and not wanting to do it.

That was the exact point Mighty, thanks. I have many CDR's LCDR's in the office that do fill out their travel claims. I also made it a point and went to all our outlining units and gave Training on how to do travel claims to our OIC's XPO's and their Crews. This style of Traning should be held at every Command by the YN staff. With the standard Mil Required Training every year, should include TPax and Direct Access Fam style training. Even though the tools are on the PSC Webpage. |

I have used T-pax a few times, our YN's created a PPT picture book to walk us through the process and it is painless.

A TPAX PPT Picture Book?!?
Thats a great idea! I'm going to ask our Admin folks to do just that for the Cutter when they can. TPAX is not a program I tend to use all the time so when I do, I'm always running for a YN to remind me again how to use it properly. If I can say that, I'm sure there are more folks out there like this. |
