MAybe the YN's can answer a question for me please.. Is the Coast Guard the only service to have an indefinite re up I went to get an ID card and was told "enlisteds aren't allowed to have an indefinite EAS." I had the contract with me this was on a Marine Corps base and was stared at wirh two heads. I told them about and showed them the paper work and they swore it was still wrong? How many other services do this type of enlistment?
Boats, I'm a YN and run an ID office for the CG, and to the best of my knowledge every branch has an "indef" enlistment after you pass your 10 year mark.
When they enter your contract information into RAPIDS they are suppose to enter it in for what would be your 30 year anniversary because that is your new EOE technically.
The CG is the only service that doesn't send a weekly or daily update to DEERS, that is why you may need to bring a copy of your contract or advancement certificate when you get an ID card. Our updates only come in after paycut.
As for the ID cards, CAC cards are issued for 3 years, or your current EOE, which ever happens first. Dependent ID's are only good for 4 years, or their 21st bday (unless a full time college student), or the sponsors EOE.
I hope this was helpful in your question, please let me know if I can assist you in any other way.
