Just popping a question in since I haven't had the best of luck with the manuals. I know there is a command approved 30 day early release from active duty for reasons such as education, is there any other reasons that a member can get out early? I have about 9 months left in my current enlistment contract and I want to get out earlier to pursue my education full time during this upcoming semester or so. I love the coast guard, believe me, but a job oppurtunity and a bachelors degree awaits me! Thank you!
The long and short answer is "No." You have a contract with the Coast Guard, and 12.B.8., PERSMAN, is very specific when it says we will not waive the 30-day limit. I answer dozens of requests/questions like this every year, and the answer doesn't change.
