I have gotten conflicting information regarding my ability to reenlist and qualify for SRB. I was hoping someone can clear this up for me.
I extended 12 months at the end of my 6 yr enlistment to meet OBLISERV requirements for transfering. I then was required to do an additional 3 month extension on top of that. I am 4 months into the 12 month extension. I want to reenlist for 4yrs+ and receive the SRB. I was told one thing and now I am being told I cannot reenlist and qualify for the SRB because of the extensions.
NWestRain, If I understand your situation correctly, unless you have orders, it's too early to reenlist. You normally cannot reenlist more than 3 months before your end of enlistment. Exceptions to this are obligated service for transfer or training. Now, you could have reenlisted before your 12 month extension started and gotten a Zone A bonus without being penalized for your time already obligated. You need to go and talk to a knowledgeable Yeoman right now about a BCMR (Board to Correct Military Record). If no one counseled you before your six year anniversary, then you should still be able to get a Zone A bonus. If you need additional information, feel free to email me at work.
