I've got a question that maybe one of you can answer. My brother was medivacc'd out of Iraq and sent to Ft. Dix, New Jersey to a medical holding company there. He spent a little over a year going back and forth between the base and Walter Reed getting his conditions treated. During his stay at the medical holding company he filed a few IG complaints and also sent an e-mail to one of his Generals in the Army Reserve side. Needless to say he stepped on the toes of the commander of the medical holding company. By doing this they essentially started to try and stop him from continuing his treatment. During this time that they wouldn't let him see a Dr. he had to be hospitalized and underwent a major explorative surgery. After this they started to discharge him even though he still had appointments with Dr's at Walter Reed and his conditions were still not completely treated. He received a General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions and was told to seek medical treatment from the VA.
My brother is easily 100% P&T Disabled but is fighting the VA for his disability rating. In the meantime he should have not been discharged from the Army the way he was. What do I need to do in order for him to receive a medical discharge instead of the General Under Honorable Condition discharge that he received? He should have been medically retired as well as waiting on his VA compensation. If anyone knows what I need to do at this point I would greatly appreciate it.
It would have been good to do it before. To change the discharge you need to contact the board of corrections of Army Records. I would contact a congressional staffer for help. Also the Reserve General and IG. If he can wrangle a Reserve JAG, that would be great help.
They should have started the VA process before discharge. Start it today. File an informal claim. Then get a VSO.
How do I report a AWOL/Deserter? I believe an employee is lying concerning his service,he carries a ACTIVE Army ID as identification with a sep date in 2010.I dont think this is normal,am I wrong?

I think the local Army recruiter would be the way to go. If not, they will tell you who to call. Good luck!
Are you sure his ID card is an Active Duty card? I ask that because at least until 2004 (when mine finally expired) Active, drilling reserve/guard and inactive reserve/guard were issued green ID cards. Years before, reserve/guard ID cards were pink and active green. If he enlisted in 2002, and spent his 2-3 years doing his thing, he would still have 5-6 years of obligation left (2010) which could be completed while attending drills or being on the inactive rolls and just showing up once a year to verify that he was still alive and well. You might want to check that before you do anything just to make sure. However, if he indeed is in the wrong, what BMCS said is good and depending on where you are, there might be a military post in your area that's just itching to send out an AWOL-APP Team.
