If a marine/sailor after 4 years, go back to school. Is it worth the post GI Bill and E5 BAH to go to school? How about health care? That person need to purchase from private company right?

Assuming you have no SC disabilities, right, you have to find your own health insurance. Likely, allot more than that too, because the military owes you nothing but a Thank You as well as the honor of having served with a final tribute as they lay you down to rest.

Shipmates, in my opinion a BS degre is difnitely worth it. Go back to school and get your BS degree and it will open up a lot of doors for you. I am a retired Chief, without my BS degre it will be very hard for me to land the job that I have in the local government. Lots of good paying jobs/positions requires a degree. Remember, there are lots of degree holder with experience who are out there looking for jobs. GOODLUCK...

Life after the Military. If you call this living.I went for a little Recon last night to the local Water Hole Liquor store.Well all week long I listened to the police scanner and what do you think the poor cops have to deal with here at home? 911 calls of some man in a womens bed,fighting and fussing,as well as money issues.I might as well be on active duty, becuase who in their right mind wants to here someone telling you what to do when they are not even enlisted into any other service but their own gang,or just plain wanna be Jessie James Hollywood or Bonnie and Clyde reject's crossing the International Border or State line to escape incarceration from their own country under religious or some other excuse to gain citizensip while you boy's are giving your lives while they play house and American's as good Christian's. So when the store clerk told some guy he had to leave and the guy got mad I stepped in as a stand up comedian and asked him just who the Heck he was as at least I'm an old man and I know who is American and who isn't as everyone who isn't has made friends over with the other's over me or them in the first place like the new administration over the old. Well since another old man got stabbed and killed at the same store and the police raced down the street to answer another 9/11 emergency the young man decided to threaten me with violence.Well ladies and gentlemen I told him " Threatening me with violence and assaulting me 242 would get you a mandatory 72 hour observation in the county psych wade, and as a volunteer I would be the one giving you a Body Cavity search and a ENEMA !" Well he kept it up and wanted me to go to the back of the store when I said " I'm not going in the bushes with you as we hardly know each other ! " Well he got real mad and came at me so I said " If you hit me I will have to put you under citizens arrest ! " When he asked me what that was I said " That's where I wrap my arms around you wrestle with you on the ground playing grab ass until someone calls the cops ! " So as the gang of other's who have now took over this little late night beer stop as their home started to surround both of US I had to consider what line of Humor do you use on a gang of racially ethnic drunk's and drug addict's as I guess the little fuss was causing a seen on their business. Well he walked off all ****ed off and I wondered how many times did I see sailors get the same kind of greeting when they leave or liberty in my old home port some where in CA where they got took or cheated by the guy standing on the corner.At least in TJ the best way to find a girl is when you take a cab...But I fear that the streets no longer have the local call girls and guys on the corner as they all must of married a soldier or got lucky with the lotto ! What I really think is why the price of tobacco and beer has gone up so much so these guys can triple their investment from their welfare checks on the side.......

Health care - Is the BIG ISSUE these days! I am so grateful that I completed my 20 year career. Health care is the MOST IMPORTANT thing I have for all of the hard work I put in during my 20 years in the U.S. Navy! It's nice to receive $1,500+ per month in retirement pension......But it CAN NOT COMPARE to having great medical coverage at a VERY REASONABLE PRICE! "Tricare Prime" is the BEST!

About five years ago my wife was VERY ILL and had to spend ten days in the hospital. The bill was over $180,000....I paid $120 and walked! For $35.00 a month for my wife & me that one hospital bill paid for all the premiums and more throughout the rest of both of our lives.

Health Insurance is VERY EXPENSIVE and at times almost impossible to get. Especially if you have PRE-EXISTING HEALTH ISSUES Thank God, I decided to go back in when I got out 1982 and finish my career. BEST DECISION I ever made!

Does anyone know the status of Tricare with the new health care bill. I was reading through and seached for Tricare. The were ten entires of which one was for Tricare for Life.
