I am on terminal leave pending my retirement. My household goods are in storage in Maine. My home of record is in McCloud California. I am not sure where I am going to put roots down as of yet. Can someone tell me will the military ship my household goods somewhere other then my home of record? Will they ship them to say Oregon or Washington without any cost to me? Any help on the question would be so awesome. I have asked this question to 2 different people and got 2 different answers. Thank you

I believe the JTR will still allow it as long as the mileage/cost does not exceed the same to your HOR.

Senior Chief, If I were you, I would call Topeka, USCG Pay and Personnel Center, they can and will give you the right answer. Hey it's a free call and that's what the PPC gets paid to do.

Wish you the best in your retirement days.

JTR Volumne 2 states that the military can ship to home of record used on initial entry or an address not to exceed the same milage/cost. So from Maine to California covers pretty much milage for anywhere in the 48 states.
