Anyone know if a "street to seat" applicant needs a good APFT score to enter a packet? Some sources say yes while others say all one needs to do is meet Army height/weight standards and take the test in Basic. I know current service members need a good score. If you need it, how can a civilian even take the test?

You can either do a PFA (Physical Fitness ***esment) which is a p***/fail test that requires half as much to do as a full APFT. Or you can do a full APFT and submit an actual score in your packet.

Food for thought Im coming in as a Medical discharge from the Marines with a few waivers in my book. For the battalion board the only suggestion they gave me after clearing me was to do a full APFT because it would lend a better picture to the USAREC board.

Do you need a "good" score to get selected, of course not you just need to p***. Will it help to have one more thing in your packet that you kick *** at..... What would you think is gonna be a make or break between two similar applicants with similar scores in every other box.

Talk to your recruiter they will conduct the test for you.

I have known one WO1 (now CW2) who was street to seat and embarr***ingly failed PT tests over and over in my first duty station. Not good from the point of his CPT. Do as much as PT as you can please.
