I am about to start the Kiowa course;
Aside from 5 & 9 is there anything I can focus to make the learning process smoother prior to start? Also, how does it compare to IERW as far as pace and information? Schedule? Thanks |

Fundmentals of Recon, Security, CFFs, basic scout stuff.
Pubs: ATM, ARH Ops (not the ARH Attack/recon Helicopter ops), Gunnery, then 95-1, SOPs all that good stuff. Get ready for some awesome learning on the computer, since academics are taught that way. |

That ought to keep you busy for a while.
As for pace and information, you'll learn about twice as much as you did in IERW and you'll relearn half of what you forgot from IERW (Aerodynamics, Aeromed, 95-1, Recon/Security) If anyone gives you a study guide, only use it as a reminder of what you need to study and look everything up in the FM/TM/AR/TC to make your own study guide. A lot of the pubs have been updated/superseded so some of the info in the study guide might be outdated. Life will be a lot easier if you have the pubs on your computer. You can get the pdf version of the TM from the Learning Center, bring in a blank CD-R and they'll burn it for you. Don't use the search function in Acrobat Reader too much, you'll get lazy and won't know where to find the stuff in the hardcopy pubs. Here's a short list of stuff you might need. AR's 95-1 40-8 TC's 1-210 1-248 FM's 3.04-203 3.04-301 3.04-126 17-95 If the CD the Learning Center gives you doesn't have any of these pubs, you can download them from www.usapa.army.mil |

Yea Smith got it down pat.
I think 17-95 is superceded by the 126. |

Not that I can figure.
If it was superseded by anything it shouldn't still be on usapa. Then again, the Army is slow sometimes. I don't think you really need it, it's mostly ground cav stuff, but it's nice to see things from a different perspective sometimes. |

Yea agreed, I think we took all the 17-95s out of the office due to the 126 covering all the info. 126 should be right behind the ATM in the most important Army pubs you have. Your TACSOP is gonna be the stuff you need once in a unit.

I agree with everything PSU and Smith said. Just don't think its overwhelming. Once step at a time. And they structure the course that way. But, you have to stay in the books to retain it. Good Luck.
p.s. I like the a/c specific pages |

I am pretty sure its part of Honeywell's deal to give the brief as well as install it.

Keep your guys from trying to close the feed tray cover with the bolt to the rear!
Besides, we love you guys, where else would we get so much ammunition to make fun of? |

don't smack your right seat aviator in the head with the tail rotor during preflight... they tend to whine. |
