Okay so I have a question on the A2CUs. My unit were issued the A2CU but were told during RFI we were not able to be issues the Aviator Fleece and such. One does anyone have a picture of the fleece or authorized jacket for the A2CU and second a place to find them. Seems silly to be on a FARP with A2CUs but wearing the Gortex that will melt to you or a fleece that will produve static electricity.

Here's what I got at RFI in addition to the Gen 3 ECWCS for cold weather. This is authorized for flight and is worn over underwear in lieu of the A2CU's. It's made by Massif

Yeah it also seems silly that 15R's get A2CUs just for showing up and 15T have to be on Flight Status. Whats with that?

The word from the uniform Gods, at echelons higher than reality, is that the ACWCS jacket and liner (the old woodland BDU flight jacket and its version of the field jacket liner) are the items authorized to be worn until the Army fields its Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble (FREE). You can be issued these items through CIF, still...apparently.

I'm sure the CSMs will have fun with that.

Assuming you are Armt or 35. Last year in Iraq, we were only allowed A2CUs on FARP. Nothing else. FARP OIC calls the shots. Long johns help a little but in winter with rotorwash it gets brutal.

That has been our fight for a while. A 15Y does everything a fueler does and some more. However fuelers are authorized A2CUs and we are not. We won that fight but not for the winter gear. My last trip we could wear some green stuff, mission dictating the need. This trip it is nothing but ACUPAT. Seems retarded again, but just me venting. The FRACUs still produce static so there use is pointless. I cant wear a watch cause of the .2 volts that may magically set off a rocket but I can wear something that will produce Static Electricity that would be a higher voltage, I would assume, thus more believable to set off munitions or fuel.

The aviator fleece is marked for flight status only. I have done a ton of work with Massif and they make great stuff. We got this before the Army mass issued it. The Army is buying as fast as possible its really a supply shortage. They finally caught up with the jackets and pants. Your command can go to bat and get you the stuff you need, its a pain but its been done.
That being said the Army is in the works of creating FREE system. Designed for everyone who could get burned up, vehicle crewmen, FARPs, and aviators. Its been tested and is being produced now. I'd say another year or two and you'll see something different at RFI, last time I saw the schedule it was predicted for mid 09 for RFI draw.

The aviator fleece jacket and pants are currently being issued to deploying fuelers in aviation. I know because I was just issued mine at RFI.
