What is the Army policy on WOJGs saluting senior Warrant Officers? Whatever the policy, is it enforced Army wide? Do the RLOs really care on the saluting of senior Warrant Officers by WOJGs?

First off, the fine print.
AR 600-25 (comes up in Google if you so like). 1–5. Hand salutes and salutes with arms b. All Army personnel in uniform are required to salute when they meet and recognize persons entitled to the salute. Salutes will be exchanged between officers (commissioned and warrant) and enlisted personnel, and with personnel of the Armed Forces of the United States (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard), the commissioned corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the commissioned corps of the Public Health Service entitled to the salute. In actuality, not only no, but HELL NO. That is warrant officer business and part of the Corps heritage--"commissioned" have no input (outside of their general AR) and they understand that. Only idiots I've ever seen try such stuff is at Rucker (short lived and ONLY done by new WOJGs because of some TAC or WOCC cadre gone bad). I will never do it (outside of accidentally saluting a CW5 because I just thought he was a VERY old LT...happens in mesopic settings only). This message has been edited. Last edited by: icarian1, |

I am hoping that is generally accepted that we "have to" do it here at Rucker. We are basically told now "God help if you don't salute someone who has more dots than you."
Interesting take on it, though, Sir. Nice to know things change when we get the **** out of here. |

this thread tickles.
As a WOJG you are smack dab in the middle of the saluting rank structure, and you should just plan on a salute with EVERYone. I'm working on a patent for a string-activated hand and prosthetic arm that comes up to the brow. Haven't worked the kinks out of the rank recognition logic, though. Speed saluting should be a new sport, like joggling? You know, where they do a 100m dash while juggling. Well, I propose a special event where both arms are authorized for saluting, and extra points are awarded for verbal greeting variety. Throw a few WOJG's in the lineup and deduct points for saluting a WO of equal rank. |

This coming from a guy who isn't even here yet...
Just wait, junior, just when you thought life couldn't get any gay-er, you get to deal with Rucker, certain CW5's who relish telling you you are a piece of $hit regardless of how well you do, and a cadre that could care less about you. Look up the B CO and flight school patch in google images. Morale really does stop here. |

Only at Rucker and only by PCS WOJGs. Although you aren't in the same circles as them, no TDY guys (people coming from other posts or home stations for graduate courses) are going to play any such game. For that matter, your cadre (IPs, etc) aren't playing that game either. Craig can mention if otherwise. Been all over the Army as an officer in the last fourteen years and what I said in my first post is not an exaggeration. No BS'ing you. |

Let's put it this way. Our SP makes junior WO by him a beer every time they call him Sir or salute.

I got my the worst dirty look @ Lewis outside the PX by a cw4 for saluting him. Rucker teaches its share of bad habits, both in the cockpit, and on the ground. I think its intentional, or may have been at one time. Anymore I find it easier to just go with the flow and not ask questions unless I'm hungry. |

Aviation warrants saluting aviation warrants...one of the gayest things I've ever heard of. I hear that the Technician side likes the idea. I'm more than willing to leave it all to them and endure some ass-chewing if one of them feels snubbed because I don't believe in it and fail to salute them.
On the one hand, we're gonna call ourselves the quiet professionals, but on the other we're going to ***** and moan if we don't get "respect"??!... |

How will aviation warrants recognize one another if they can't wear pilot wings on their A2CUs? Tech warrants just may win out.

The answer is really simple. Walking warrants are always in the shop and busy working. Only aviators have the leisure time to stroll around and not salute each other. |

Palm,
Can tell by that statement that you aren't/weren't an MTP (neither am I). 90% of my MTP brothers win the "busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest" title (techs included). Hands down. Now the rest of us...you "might" have a point of order. |

Yeah, you've got a point about MTP's. I wasn't a WO long enough to be an MTP (or any other track), but I've got a couple of friends who are long time MTP's. They are the only guy's who turned gray before me. |

Your MTPs are busy because their trying to rebuild those burnt down hawks. By the way you guys making out ok? We are getting a new hangar when we get home and supposedly the airfield might have a new addition, rumored that 64s might be showing up around our neck of the woods (I don't believe it though). Hope you guys are doing well. |
