I had a blast as an 68G, that was the MOS designation when I was in. VA Beach area is great. I would not recommend the temorary relocation to Newport News while your husband is in AIT. Just due to the cost of living. The AIT is one of the hardest the United States Army has. When I was in it was Number three. First two were medical and then Avation Structural Repair Specialist. Which is why there is such a high recycle rate for the MOS. Of course the kids loved Daddy's job in the Army because they would come to the airfield and play around on the helicopters. When I was in if you could pull a 240 on the PT Test then it was like college. We did the Monday thru Friday thing and was gone on the weekends. Would make multiple trips to DC, there is an ice cream shop in the george town district that has 1054 flavors of ice cream, they make it right there in front of you. Pentagon Mall is huge and you can find anything you want.
