if there's truth to this could anyone give me a timeline as to when I could expect this? I talked to my S-1 and I kinda think my questions to them got pigeon-holed.
The duty to serve falls to those with the courage to make the security and well-being of this great nation their personal responsibility. They are called....Soldiers.
You will be promoted to E5, but it might not be until you actually report ot WOCS and finish inprocessing. You'll receive a standard promotion order promoting you to the rank of SGT, but you probably won't get to wear the stripes because you'll already be in school wearing WOC rank. But the pay is still the same.
The orders you receive for WOCS will state something to the effect of "member is authorized promotion at PCS" and your unit should promote you to E-5 before you depart. I was promoted to SGT (from PFC) a few days before I left my unit, took leave for 30 days and reported to WOCS as a SGT.
All of the guys I went to WOCS with didn't get their E-5 until after in-processing. There was once upon a time an E-3 at my last unit that was promoted about a week before he left for WOCS, but a bunch of people made a big deal out of it in a negative way..
