I'd tell anybody to join. My only suggestion is to get as much college as possible for free while you're enlisted. And to at least try as a civilian first, you might not need to waste your time.
I've been reading on these forums a lot. I've seen two or three PT scores posted and the lowest one was 277. It seems to me like someone wouldn't stand a chance if his score was any lower than about 280. Is this the case? Also, are these scores that I'v seen posted from currently Active Duty soldiers? Meaning, would the PT score be a little more lenient for Civilians? basically, I've got a 249 as it stands and I'm probably going to take the thing again in a few weeks. I want to know what average scores are for other civilian applicants are so if I'm 20 and 30 points lower, I can get my score up with them before I take it again. thanks for any info.
I got accepted on the civilian board in September with a 215. I think that my recruiter loused up my run time, but none-the-less, I got accepted. From what I have gathered reading all the information contained in the WOC SOP and Orientation Packet, recruiting website, etc, I think that the APFT is simply a Q - NQ. If it comes down to who is a better PT guru then the board members must really be splitting hairs.
They are looking for quality leadership, not someone who can do a bagillion push-ups.
thanks Netmender! I guess I can stop stressing it so much now. I'll go ahead and make the adjustments to my paperwork and go to the board. Congratulations on your acceptance by the way!!
Not everyone, the NS list was a lot longer than the S list. Just make yourself shine, be very professional in the board. Read all the name tags and address each board member by name and rank when you answer a question. Yes not yea, No not nah. You guys can figure it out. Good luck, I hope to see everyone in flight schoool. At the moment I am going to go back to base and figure out how to make an army bed.
Take it the NS is Non Serivce and S is Service? Again, mad congrats on making it, hope everything goes exceptionally well. Is the Army bed anything like an AirForce bed?
I got the bomb today that I didnt make it to the Oct. civilian board going on right now. ONE PIECE of paperwork hadn't been received yet and the whole packet was put on hold. My recruiter and I got the paper together but it was to no avail. I should be going to the NOV board though. God and the Army Willing. When you get your packet together, check and recheck it. And then ask your recruiter to check it again.
I was wondering when does the USAREC board meets next? Do they meet in Oct 2006? I sent my woft packet in and I was wondering my chance at getting into the program if anyone knows.

Tacsol I didnt see your post before i put mine up but what is the dates of the OCT board is it the 4th-6th? I didnt hear anything back so i assume i made it to the board, they tell you when your missing something but say nothing when your good to go apparently. Last month (incomplete Flight physical) I didnt have my sickle cell enemia test back (im white) hahah and I took the wrong depth perception test. So I took care of all the minor issues and sent it back to Ft Rucker.
Hello all, I am a pior service 11B with 117 GT score and 1 tour in Iraq. I ETS out last month and enjoying my 2pm wake ups. I just found out the Reserve dont offer 153A for NYS. the guard is a bit hairy, they want me to sign up for a 1 year to 3 yr contract. i dont mind the deployments, but i do want to fly. what about the active army 153a? how many years do i have to meet after WOFT before I can transferover to Guard/or reserve in a different state?
WOFT contracts are 6 years for active... ANG you have to be min E5 rank and i dont know about reserve... but i know about active because im trying it right now
