I tried searching this and found unrelated answers so please bear with me. If I do get accepted into WOFT, what will all be involved in the contract? How many years do I need to sign on for? Will I be able to choose my duty station? Anything important I need to watch out for? I would really appreciate your help. Thank you.

Cozi - before you ask any more questions here, read every page of the Warrant Officer Recruiting website. Download the sample application packet and WO guide and read, read, read!

I swear I've looked all over that site (I have it bookmarked) and I couldn't find anything about the contract as far as commitment time, and choosing a duty station. I guess I'll try again though.

Cozi:

I believe the ADSO for new pilots is 6 years from the time you graduate from IERW (Flight School).

If this is incorrect, I'm sure one of our resident front-office personnel will correct me.

Yes Matt is correct but I want to clarify one thing. It is a 6 year Active Duty Service Obligation (ADSO). That date starts from the date that you pin on your wings, not when you graduate IERW.
As far as assignments and the other questions that you asked. That all comes together when you are close to being finished with the entire flight school. What I mean by that, all the courses before you start flight school, IERW and FSXXI. I'm speaking for the UH-60 side of FSXXI, they usually found out their duty assignment right before they went into their last 4 weeks of the course. You do get some say in where you would like to be stationed. It's called a "dreamsheet" and it is exactly that. You will be assigned based on the "needs of the Army" before your personal preferences will be filled. Get used to that because that is the way it is in the Army.
Good luck and once you get accepted and start your training I HIGHLY encourage you to take the Commercial Instrument written. It comes in handy for when you decide to get out or retire.

They're getting a little better about being prompt with assignments though. I just started BCS for the 60 and I found out my assignment the day we started. Some guys even have their RFO's already. Most got at least one of their duty choices (I got my first) but there were some who did not.

Good to hear that they're handing out the assignments earlier and you got what you wanted Airborne. Where are you headed to after flight school and who is your IP in BCS? I used to be the Platoon Leader for BCS a few years ago.

After flight school I'm off to Campbell. I just got my RFO today and I'm being assigned to the 159th. Plus they already gave me a class date for the Mike model transition. My IP is DAC Lee Brown. He is super cool and I have honestly learned more this past ten days than any other time in flight school. The weather has not cooperated with us lately and we have only flown 2 days since I started BCS.

That is great for you. You will enjoy the "M" model. Lee was my student when he went thru the uh-60 IP course. He's a great guy and very, very knowledgable! Tell him that the guy that now flies the Sikorsky SK-92 in Saudi Arabia says hello!

The 92 is big? naaah!! Just very nice to fly.

I want to reiterate something from one of my earlier replies. While you are in flight school and you get the chance to take the FAA Commercial instrument written exam, PAY THE MONEY AND TAKE IT!!! It will help you get a job when you are finished in the Army.

Best 125 bucks I've ever spent. Plus they feed you breakfast, that's an all around good deal in my book.
