What is the Army policy on crew rest? And, at what level can crew rest be waived?

Depends upon the unit, fixed wing or rotary wing and circumstance.

What in specific are you looking for?

I realized there would be more than one answer.

Let's go with all platforms if you can answer for both fixed & rotary wing aircraft.

Since 95-1 has changed it's depends more on whose SOP you fall under.

Typically, its 12 hour duty days for rotary wing and 14 hour duty days for fixed wing with 8-10 hour rest periods in between.

In general, Company Command level can extend for 2 hours of duty day upon request from aircrew and Battalion or equivilant higher headquarters Commander can extend another 1-2 hours. As always the further up the chain you go, at some point you can get all duty day and rest period requirements waived.

Some "local 95-1" publications have duty day/flight hour requirments that may be more restrictive.

Also, the definition of a duty day is open for debate. Some people consider it from the time you wake up to go to work to the time you finish work, and others start the clock when they show up to work.

Like a lot of other things, the rules are viewed to suit the person, mission etc.

Most SOPs that I've seen define the duty day as arriving at the workplace until you depart. Fort Drum has a modification to that, but I'm not sure if it is still in effect, since they no longer have 801 housing off-post.
