Just browsing the forums and looking for some general insight on the WOFP. I am currently an E-4 AET (AVIONICS ELECTRICAL TECH), going on 2 years in Rate (MOS) and have plans to apply for Army Flight Warrant either after my enlistment (in 2 years), or during my final year.

I am currently a fully qualified Basic Aircrew and at the time of app will have all of my advanced flight quals. Have passing ASVAB, and Flight Physical. Recently received Good Conduct with no past NJPs.

Does the Army favor prior aviation aircrew experience? This may be a bit in advance but I am wondering from the Army's perspective where I might stand for consideration with civilians, or other enlisted Army personal when applying (board and tests not considered). Thanks in advanced for any info!

First of all, if you are going to refer to it as an acronym, it is referred as WOFT (Warrant Officer Flight Training). Second of all, if you want to apply, do it now. There isn't anything anywhere that says you have to wait until so and such date to apply (not that I know of anyways). The Army's preferrence is between 4 and 6 years of AFS. If you wait until after your enlistment you're telling the WOFT board that you are more committed to the USCG. If you apply now, they will see that you are committed to a new career with the Army as an aviator.
As far as your aviation experience, it will mainly help you during your flight training, something that we call "air sense". The big thing that the board will be looking at is your civilian education and your annual enlisted evaluations.

Hope this helps.
