I know back in the late 1970s and 80s they were trying to get rid of all the warrant officers and the warrant officer corps so why did they bring it back. How many warrant officers does the army have now and days?. Oh ya and one more thing so how bad is the fuel thing hurting you rotary aviation guys im trying to finish up my bachelors degree and im right in the middle of my private pilots license training and I thought about taking the asvab seeing if i get higher than 111 and trying for the warrant officer thing but now that aviation is hurting so bad I dont think the army will be needing a whole lot of pilots anymore.
As a former WO I remember that 100 WOCs graduated every two weeks in the late 60s. There are a lot of guys my age still flying in the Guard and reserve and a 60ish friend went to Iraq last year to fly UH-60s.
New Question; The new GI Bill has restricted aviation training to 60% of cost. How can we get around those thousands of dollars? If one is enrolled in a college aviation degree program could the entire cost be tasked? I have a commercial instrument airplane and helicopter and need the $30-50K for CFII multiengine airplane. I don't have $20K for my share.
Not a hundred every class but still good size, and not all warrants are aviators so. The Army isn't hurting for pilots, its hurting for certain kinds and certain MOSes with certain levels of experience. I bet the thousand WOs waiting on bubbles can pop in to these boards and tell you the Army isn't hurting for aviators.
