Is it official, that every aviator must wear the A2CU when flying without exception as of 9/1/09?

Is that Army wide or just at Ft Rucker?

End of the month.

Some fixed wing units and deployed units are receiving waivers. (rumor control has it)

Is it finally official today on the unauthorized use of the one piece flight suit in aerial flight? Is that policy Army wide or just at Ft Rucker?

The A2CU two piece is more functional but the one piece looks a hell of a lot better. Makes you look like aircrew not Infantry. Well, if you go Army, you may as well look Army.

Let's see, no wings, no flight patches to go along with the functional but ugly A2CU two piece flight suit. I guess, the Army is just being Army different in being Army Strong.

It was a sad sad day today because of that. I carried the ALARACT message in my flight suit the whole month and only got stopped by one TDY CSM who asked about me wearing my flight suit. He seemed pretty impressed that I would go to the lengths I did to make sure I was authorized to wear it.

I disagree with the A2 being more functional. If its design could be implemented into a one piece, then....maybe. For one, they aren't sized right at all. Large Longs hit me at my lower shin. X-longs hit me below my ankles. Neither are comfortable.

Here's hoping that with the hopeful implementation of the new camo in A-Stan that we will get something else, too.

As far as the flight patches go, I think that is a local policy. I've seen a lot of A2's that have company patches on the right brest pocket.

I have to spend a 1/2 hour looking for my pens and pencils on post flight. The velcro sucks. don't put anything in your "hand warmers" either. The crewchiefs must love digging the loose change out of the seats.

Me too. Mine sleeve kept getting caught on the seat and the thrust lever which, consequently, ripped my pens / pencils out. When they tear apart one of the aircraft for phase, they are going to find a mini office depot behind the pedals and under the seat flooring.

Hate it, absolutley 100% hate the POS. Can I be anymore clear? Every other branch still believes aviation is a diffrnet world. HATE THIS POS! I wore the pickle suit for 5 years prior, and I WANT IT BACK!

Count your lucky stars. In years past, the Army wanted to get an exemption on paying flight pay for those who couldn't meet their flight gates and have enlisted personnel piloting helicopters like their German and English Army counterparts.

I hate that after I stuff all the crap I keep in my pants pockets in there, I spend the rest of the day pulling up my pants. Another complaint, A2CU looks like crap with a flight jacket.

My big changes would be 1) Move the pin pockets up to the shoulder 2) Let us where a leather patch on the A2s instead of just name tapes #) place for a unit patch

Oh so you're that guy? Wink

Yeah digging stuff out of the chin bubbles with the magnet or grabbers while draped over the center pedestal was always so much fun!

Yep, that was me.

They didn't let us put our Pubs bag up front where we could get to it. I think it will get better when I put the bag up front and secure it to the latch on the door in front of the #1 PDP. At least then I can just drop them into the bag and worry about it later.

Well, it happened again! Pens and pecils everywhere! I'm just going to have to velcro the crap to my helmet.

I can't even wear pens and pencils in that pocket. I put them in the shoulder pocket. As far as the pickle suit versus the A2CU...if the A2CU was intended to make me look like the rest of the Army, why do the CSMs always try to ensure that we're wearing ACUs in formations? If the A2CU makes me look like the rest of the Army, shouldn't I be allowed to wear that instead? Oh, wait! I guess it doesn't make me look like the rest of the Army, or at least it makes me look like a cheap wannabe. A2CU next to ACUs looks different in the cut of the uniform, and the quality of the color after even one wash.

Let me understand this. When not performing flying duties, you must wear the ACU?

That's what we have been told-- 30 minutes prior to and 30 minutes after performing flying duties for the A2CU. All other times, either the ACU or the FRACU.

Unit thing zaurus (I.E. local procedure...that sucks). I've got two pairs of ACUs...they still look new after three years of not wearing them.

Beer Applause You got it!

It's funny because we were allowed to wear the A2CU all day long during the time before we deployed (got them from RFI) and all through deployment. But now that we're back in garrison, new rules and all...

At least you can wear your aircrew wings on the ACU at all times.

When is your OCS start date? Any idea on your branch selection? It appears you're too damn old to attend flight school at Ft Rucker.

Good luck in OCS and Beyond.
