i am currently in prep school for USMA. i am very interested in army aviation and i was wondering what the vision requirements are for an attack helicopter pilot. (my sight is 20/50 but is fine as far as depth and color.) is there any hope for me?

The requirements are 20/50 correctable to 20/20. BTW 20/50 means that a person with 20/20 vision can see an object at 50 feet but you are only able to see it at 20 feet. Your depth vision is not perfect but if you get it corrected then you will be fine.

I had 20/70 at the time of my entrance physical. All that matters is if you get an approval stamp from Ft. Rucker when they send your flight physical in. 20/50 isn't a big deal.

However, if you had corrective surgery you have to see at the 20/20 level with no more than a +/- 1.0 astigamtism to not need a waiver. Just FYI.
