It's been a while but wanted to give y'all an update.. Last time I wrote here I was waiting on a tattoo waiver approval for OCS or enlistment. Well, OCS fell through, but I got it for the enlistment. I went to MEPS, signed up, swore in and was told that I wouldn't be going in until September 23. Then, about a week after my 26th bday in July, I get a call from my SSgt, telling me that if I want 0231 (Intel), it's now or wait it out. I jumped in (whether it was true or not). 3 long, hot, sweaty, nasty, painful, memorable, great, amazing months later, I'm proud to call myself Marine, along side some other amazing new women Marines. I'm on to MCT from here and then off to MOS in lovely Pensacola. Any advice on MCT is welcome and thanks for all the support and help. To all those just thinking about it, it's worth every moment. No words can describe. As one conversation that one of my buddies and I had while taking out the garbage one day put it: "You go to college and get a degree, but no one would no unless you told them. You would be like most other people but with a piece of paper stating you paid to get more education (unless your lucky and got a scholarship, like myself). You would act like most, talk like most, get your coffee like most. But, when you become a Marine, people know without asking. You walk 10 feet tall and bullet proof (a quote from our SDI) and you act with honor and respect. People know and the way you feel is beyond what any piece of paper can declare. It's just amazing." Thank you to all those before me for your advice and setting us newbies up to be better, stronger, Marines.
I had a rough time in MCT since one of my instructors didn't like me. The other instructor even told me so. Of course, it wasn't all her fault. I'm pretty hard-headed! I think you have all the tools you need now to make it through MCT. If I did it, you should have no problem!
Don't be the one caught in the whiskey locker with a male Marine. and that goes all the way through MOS school. Plenty of time for that later, you don't need to start you career off with an NJP. That also the reverse is true for the guys also. Oh Yes Congrats Devil Dog.
