Hi! I am reenlisting this year and am trying to latmov into a different mos. I want to find a job where i can do more training and go out to the field more. etc etc. Just wondering if any of you women marines are an 0451, and if you all like it or not? ie home time, deployments etc. There are a few jobs that i want to latmov to, but before i make the mistake that i did with my first mos, i am trying to find other marines with the same mos's that like it. And can help me out a bit. SO if any of you, have an insanely awesome mos, and you do things where you actually do what all marines were trained to do, and you love your job, let me know please! ps i am admin right now, the closest thing that i get to feeling like a marine is the range. unfortunately. And also, my husband and i are both Marines and we have a daughter, so... i dont want to be away from home too too much. But at the same time, you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the country free right? thank you everyone! hope to see some of you all when i pcs!
BTW i am still a lance because the cutting score is really high in my mos. Most Cpl's in my unit either pick it up meritoriously, or time in grade, time in service. In fact the longest most nco's are nco's in my mos, is about 4 -6 months before they eas. I pick up in january though! i got all my mci's in, got high pros and cons, plus expert on the range, just waiting on the time and grade. thanks for being blunt ;(
I fully understand about the cutting score thing. I was supply admin, so mine was usually right up there with admin's. I was just being nosey because the way I look at it, if I picked up Cpl before re-enlisting, it can be done! I think that Marine that just posted in the Boot Camp Sound Off forum is a combat engineer. I never knew a female that did that.
Unless things have DRASTICALLY changed since I was at the Engineer School, women still can not be Combat Engineers.
There were only two of the three schools that allowed women and CEIC(Combat Engineer Instruction Company) was not one of them. EEIC (Engineer Equipment Instruction Company) and UIC (Utilities Instruction Company) did. EEIC is Heavy Junk or Yellow Iron instruction. UIC is utilities, water treatment and desalination. Infrastructure type stuff.

Women have been in the Combat Engineer MOS (1371) for over 10 years. The first one I met was in Japan in 1997. I was a 1361 and worked with Combat Engineers everyday.
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, National Guard or Reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand that - Author unknown.
I got out in 92 and if a woman would have even mentioned going into Combat Engineering the guys would have ripped your head off, all while laughing in your face. GOOD FOR THEM - YOU GO GIRLS!
you got a little off subject guys! an 0451 is air delivery specialist. females can do it, just wanted to know if there were any on military.com. oh and btw my husband is a combat engineer and there are women in his unit that are combat engineers as well. and i am an 0121 not a 1371 or whatever. and i am picking up cpl before re-enlisting btw. what is everyone else's mos's and do u like them?
