The Marine Corps is full of rich history, part of that history began in February of 1943 with the establishment of the Women Marine Reserves and their training at Camp Lejeune.
What makes this announcement special is the find of an original book dedicated to this historical event. Thanks to former Marine SSgt Nancy Luke we now have a copy of the original book in the historical archives of Yellow Footprints. For those interested in viewing this unique book, please stop in at the listed link below: http://www.yellowfootprints.com/yearbook/showgallery.php?cat=4825 You can also access the book by going to; www.yellowfootprints.com Boot camp Database, left side of screen Parris Island 1943 Again, Thanks Nancy for all your hard work in locating books like this. Cool...I love old pictures like those. Thanks for posting.....
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, National Guard or Reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand that - Author unknown. |
