I also went in the Corps in the way back 70's. I have always been and always will be proud of being a WM. We had WM Companies we were our own structure within the Marine Corps. My first FSgt was a hardcore "WM" she spent time in Vietnam (which was basically unheard of) and could cuss down any male Marine that got in her way. She was the best dam FSgt I ever had and we were always proud of being Woman Marines. Proved to the outside world and those "male Marines" that they weren't the only ones that could wear the EGA with pride and dignity. So when someone absentmindedly calls you a WM just remember where we started and say "You're dam right I am and proud to be one"

Thanks for the words...and welcome back to the fold. We are trying to make this a place for all Marines, but there are always a few that like to feel their oats sometimes and run their suck a bit too much.
Look forward to discussions in the future.

I found this on a website that had Marine quotes on it...
"They (Women Marines) don't have a nickname, and they don't need one. They get their basic training in a Marine atmosphere, at a Marine Post. They inherit the traditions of the Marines. They are Marines." LtGen Thomas Holcomb, USMC Commandant of the Marine Corps, 1943

Off topic: Hey, Hulin. I found the avatar you used to have of the cat with a tobogan on. Were you planning to go back to it? I wanted to use it as my new avatar. DH and I thought about getting a cat not long ago....but it didn't happen. Anyhoo, my mug has been there for two years and it's time for a new one. That cat has been the only one I've liked enough to put up there.
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, National Guard or Reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand that - Author unknown.

It's all yours, ma'am! I can always find me another silly kitty one, anyway. I appreciate the heads up.
