So, I am in the process of joining the Air Force. I am getting a waiver approved (dependency, -I'm married with 2 kids.) I took my ASVAB on Tuesday.
I got a 99 overall My line scores were M - 99 A - 98 G - 99 E - 97 I was interested in doing the 1n6x1 job, but it has been merged with the 1n0x1 AFSC - which was my third choice. My second (now my first, I guess), is 1N4. My last choice is 3c0x1 (I am a computer tech in the civilian world currently). So, is anyone here familiar with these jobs? 1n4x1 1n0x1 3c0x1 and even 1n6x1? Most of what I can find is: "It's a cool job, but I can't tell you about it." I am interested in the following types of things: How common/often are deployments, how long is tech school, where are the most common bases to get stationed at riight out of tech school...anything else you might wish you knew before you got the job. I've read all the descriptions of about.com, by the way. TIA. |

I have no idea but you can go to the official website of the usaf and talk to an advisor who will answer any questions you have.

1n4 = intel analyst
1n0 = idk, intel sucks 3c0 = good luck. they're so full. a lot a 1N anything is going to be tough to get a good description of, since the majority of their stuff is calssified, including CDCs. Just make sure to do your homework before going intel. i know A LOT of people who hate it because they're so limited to where they can go. I was in Korea at an intel squadron, and i'm currently at Goodfellow, where the Tech School is. 1N4 would be the way to go, IMO. They need analysts everywhere. you won't go TDY, most likely EVER. intel doesn't...hope this helps |

Don't know if your in Basic training yet, but I'm a 1N4 which is a Signals Intelligence Analyst, what we do is to take all the info that the other intel afsc's gather and connect the dot then send out the reports on the fused info
the 1N0's the "Briefers" do just that, they take the info from us 1N4's combine it with some info from possibly CIA and tell the commanders what's going on in their area of responsibility I actually had to look up the 1N6's since I hadn't heard of them till now and from the sounds of it from the official description they play devils advocate, they test the DOD communications and computer networks for any weaknesses so that the DOD can improve in those areas and the 3C0 guys sound like the network administrators now it's actually the 1n4's and the 1n0 that are merging not the 1n0's and 1n6's for the tech school the new course is 6 months, far as common bases right out of tech school I couldn't tell you but right now I'm right out of tech and headed to langley, and for 1n4 deployment depends on which unit you go to, like me i'm probably not going to be deploying unless I volunteer to because of the type of unit I'm heading to, frankly I'm loving being a 1n4 it's interesting work but it's a tough tech school at least half my class washed back and a few washed out |
