Subject line says it all. I was in AFCS from 65 to 68, 1916th Comm Sqdn at Pease AFB then 1932nd Comm Sqdn Goose Bay. Last PCS was at a TAC(YUCK)base, Bergstrom in TX. At "Career Day" in Basic I was encouraged to take the by-pass specialist test due to my ham radio experience(then K3IWW, now W1HFN), passed and thereby missed out on all the fun at Keesler.
Just loved ground-to-air radio, neat stuff for any ham radio type. We had WWII BC-640 TX and BC-639 RX for VHF at Pease and GRT-3 TX / GRR-7 RX for UHF. Goose Bay had some Canadian Telecom gear for VHF and more GRT-3 / GRR-7s. Also grew to hate the GRC-27 auto-tune UHF gear.
Hope there are other 304X4's out there to chat with.

When I was at Keesler in October of 1978, I was "Open Comm", and I took the whole test for 304X4, and passed it and I could have gone Direct Duty Assignment as a 304X4 but alas, the AF at the time had no 30434 slots in the field so I got put in as a 304X0. That in the end was a good thing because of that microwave experience, I'm now designing special radar systems. today.
