I have done a good amount of research (which includes reading every post on this site pertaining to a linguist position) on this subject but not enough to tell me which branch to enlist into--Navy or Air Force for cryptolinguist.
1A3 position appeals to me in just about every way. I'm leaning towards the Air Force over the Navy but what can any of you linguist personnel tell me about possible differences between the two? I want to serve but don't know which branch to enlist under. Thanks. ps-I posted this same message in gen. disc. but maybe this is a better place for it--it's also got a spot in the navy forum (wanted to get both sides you know) |

Theo -- you've posted this exact same question on far too many boards and this is one place that it shouldn't be. Intel doesn't fall under Mil Comm.
The bottom line is no one can adequately answer this question for you unless they served as a Cryptolinguist in both the Navy and the AF. And even if someone did, they could only provide you with their perspective, which may very well be skewed and not represent what you would find. In other words, this is something you need to decide on your own based upon your research. Good luck. BTW -- many of the assignment locations are the very same for both Navy and AF. |
